Description of Raw Olivine Mineral Specimen Classrooms

OLIVINE | Much of the earth's surface is covered in oceanic crust, of which olivine is a major component. With the highest crystallization temperature, olivine is the first mineral to form in a magma, making it a useful geothermometer. GREAT FOR GEOLOGY CLASSROOMS | Ideal for identification & classification exercises, and is great for lessons in hardness, fracture & luster. Its massive earthy habit is a perfect example of nonmetallic luster. GEOLOGIST SELECTED | Each specimen is selected and hand processed by an actual geologist, ensuring each sample exhibits defining features. LOCALLY PROCESSED | Our rock and mineral samples are sourced from a variety of locations around the world and are processed in Victor, NY. INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED & LABELED | Each specimen sample is packaged in a transparent bag, and is labeled & barcoded for easy identification.

Nothing like the pictures in the description!

Very disappointed, does not match the pictures. Looks like a rock I would find in someone's driveway. The photos I've added are taken from both sides and in natural light. No green, very little "glitter" like limestone. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • SUITABLE FOR GEOLOGY TEACHING | Ideal for identification and matching exercises as well as hardness, fracture and brilliance exercises. Its massive earthy form is a perfect example of non-metallic brilliance.

Not what I paid for - immediate refund

Nothing like the description or the picture. To be honest I don't even think it's olivine. Also, it has a very strong perfume smell. I have never had such a smell from a stone or mineral. I didn't even want to take it out of my pocket because I saw how ugly it was and immediately returned. But I decided to take a closer look just to see if there was any indication that it was actually olivine. The stench hit me here. I haven't looked at it anymore. It was a sample of a mineral intended to…

Pros
  • GEOLOGIST SELECTED | Each sample is selected and processed by a real geologist to ensure each sample has distinctive characteristics.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
