Unacceptable leak rate in air conditioned storage

I went to get some of these this morning and found that three of them had leaked in air conditioned (indoor) storage. The batteries are imprinted with the date NOV 2026. This is an unacceptably high failure rate and next time I need AAA batteries I'll look at other options.

Pros
  • Household batteries
Cons
  • Expensive

Does not fit household batteries

I needed to change the batteries in my TV remote control. I plugged it in and the remote didn't work. I tried several batteries from the pack and none worked. I tried batteries from another battery pack I had and they worked fine. The only thing I can guess is that these batteries must have been stored for a long time. Not good !

Pros
  • AAA
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
