Good price but needs some adjustment

Nice set but more instructions would be nice. For example, advice on how to rotate the posts 120 degrees would be helpful. Need a compression tool? The backplate pin bolt head and nut were too large for the intended holes, so the bolt heads and baseplate center hole had to be modified. Other modifications also had to be made for a proper fit. Not a bad set for the money but don't expect to be able to put it on and go, it takes a little time to get it right. Yes it was the right kit for myโ€ฆ

I am satisfied with the product

Overall I am satisfied with the product. The truck looks great and at the moment the handling is pretty much the same except for a much higher cab position, but that's what I wanted! I would give 5 stars but the instructions and videos leave out some pretty important information. There is nothing on the front end that tells you (paper or video instructions) that you need a spring compressor. Adding an unexpected 1.5 hours to set up because I had to run to AutoZone to rent a tool. The rearโ€ฆ

Looks like a truck: Part

I love how my 2010 2WD Tacoma turned out with the lift complete! Always liked the truck but never liked how low it was. The ride is still great. I feel like it's a bit stiffer in the back, but to me it's more truck-like. I've installed other lift kits and I have all the tools so the installation wasn't too bad for me. The video misses the fact that you have to compress the spring on the strut and rotate the strut. If you don't have the tools and skill to use them, you're better off payingโ€ฆ

Nuts and bolts included will NOT fit leaf spring assembly

According to instructions no problem, remove rear spring assembly, 'add leaf' and reassemble. The bolt head that secures the leaf spring will not fit back into the standard axle hole, but will not fit back into the U-bolt plate. Not the biggest problem other than having to go to the trouble of buying the screws which I assumed the manufacturer would supply. Also, rear shock absorbers are REALLY needed on this lift. The stock shocks required my son to step on the rear bumper to lower the rearโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Great product at an affordable price. This kit is a cost effective 5-bolt Tacoma lift kit for 2WD or 4WD that has very little to do with suspension upgrades as it is. In general, the installation is not bad. In addition to grinding the longer strut bolt bolt for spacers, I found that I also had to grind the head of the hex bolt down and all the way around to get the bolt head into the weld hole. bracket on the axle and leave a gap so the screw head doesn't rest/rub on the axle itself.
