I used this yarn to make these squares because the color variation is perfect. One skein has 3 colors so I use a yarn winder to divide it into 3 skeins. Revain raised the price outrageously so he had to buy more skeins from other stores.

The quality of Red Heart yarn has dropped significantly and frankly it's not a quality product anymore. It's spiky, has lots of knots in the strand, and worn plywood. It used to be an affordable, high-quality yarn! Now it is more expensive and of poor quality. SMX

I use Red Heart for my double knit hat projects as they are inexpensive and easy to work with. This yarn isn't the softest, but that's normal for the brand. The color is bright and the ombre effect is subtle when knitting. In crochet, the color change is more dramatic. Not the best yarn but good enough for cheap yarn.

Obviously this yarn is cheaper but I still expected it to be a single skein of yarn that was easy to unravel. Several parts were tied together. The yarn is ombre but there are light parts connected to the dark parts so you lose the fade effect. I'm working on a few blankets and I've already gone through a few skins.
