Try it first! about gear oils

I use Redline products all the time. I've always been amazed at how well their gear oils work. My last purchase was no different. I replaced my gearbox with a lower mileage bearing I had and was only able to get Am**il brand gearbox manual lube. Had driven for 2 weeks and was very unhappy with gear changes, had a bad grinding noise when shifting into 2nd gear in cold weather. I had enough and I threw it all away and put in a fresh Redline MTL. Now the car shifts perfectly, no pops or clicks…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

A noticeable difference, not just a placebo (Honda Prelude SH)

After reading many reviews on this product I decided to take a chance. I've used Royal Purple and Red Line in other cars in the past with great success, but Honda are pretty solid with their MTFs alone. Some reviews here on Revain say the Red Line helps, others say it's not as good as the Honda MTF. For those with older Hondas, I would like to say that this fluid makes a noticeable difference to my 2001 Prelude. I only changed the fluid 6 months ago so a fresh Honda MTF was in there. But I…

Compliments on the smooth shifting of my car.

From what I've read there's an argument that thicker liquids like this are just a patch for troublesome transfers. My 12 Honda GE8 shifts smoother, no doubt with about 50,000 miles on it. That said, I've bled the transmission many times and haven't seen any hard particles indicative of wear (metal flakes on the drain plug magnet), so they didn't fill holes, so to speak, they simply absorbed shock. and lubricate properly. Using genuine Honda fluid, it leveled out within a week (I performed the…

Direct difference

It took about 15 minutes drive to get it working but my manual shifting went smooth much better than before. I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S manual transmission. I read on some forums that you first need to remove the plastic plug from the wing nut and stick your finger in, feel for the fluid and I didn't feel it which told me it was quite a lot gave of it. I sprayed the drain plug with WD40 2 days before to avoid problems removing it and it was easy. A little over 1 Qt leaked, maybe 1.2. It was…

One of the best chemicals I've ever bought for a car!

This product is amazing! I have been a sports car enthusiast for 30 years during which time I have owned many high performance cars and have been in the automotive industry for 20 years. I used to live by the rule that they weren't a chemical solution to mechanical problems, but this gear oil did just that in my situation. I bought a 2007 Civic Si a little over a year ago just to have something sportier for city driving and also to be reliable (Honda ;)). I found out that the 3rd gear synchro…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
