I was concerned when I received this as there are no instructions included. However, it struggled with my TV system on the first try. It also has some features that weren't in the original controller. It works well.

Bought and volume up/down stopped working after 2 months. I replaced the batteries that came with the kit with new batteries from the box and nothing. A complete waste of money. Wouldn't buy from this seller again.

Don't worry. That thing you know has tiny, hard-to-reach buttons that no longer work or you have to apply 15 pounds of pressure to respond. Additionally, the volume buttons (which you're probably here for) can also be hidden inside, along with the batteries, as they're hard to find too.

Put a battery in this remote and it works great without pairing with my Yamaha ATS-1030. Cheaper than buying an original spare part. Addendum: Bought in February. It's July now and the volume up button doesn't work anymore. All other buttons work perfectly. But the volume up and down buttons are important for a soundbar.

Thought I might need to program this thing as it's supposed to replace a whole bunch of Yamaha remotes. But no. I had to add batteries (no problem, they're standard AAA batteries, not button batteries), but that's about it. I just got it so I don't know about the durability. But it can't get any worse than the two Yamaha remotes I've been through. And it's cheaper.

My original Yamaha remote developed problems with button presses not registering. despite the new battery. After some research I saw that other people had similar problems. A quick fix was to press the back of the remote to make sure the battery was making contact. it works, but it started working with two hands instead of one. It worked wonderfully. Pairs with the soundbar without instructions. The problem is that the remote got knocked off the side table three feet off the floor and stopped working. I've dropped dozens of remotes on the floor dozens of times with no issues. I'd appreciate it, reluctantly, junk.
