The mats are very heavy and textured on both sides so they don't slip. This is a must for actually being able to use something like this, as especially dogs can just flop something lightweight right off the couch. These tiles work very well for my dog. I was a little surprised as to how big they are (I didn't bother to check the measurements when I ordered them). But they work so they are fine. A bit of advice-remove them when you don't need them in place! My husband didn't notice they were on the chairs, sat down and got a big, painful surprise!

Ya'll, don't judge me: my cats are allowed on the furniture because I can easily brush their silky hair off with a pet chomper. But my dog. my dog's hair is terribly coarse and sticks in all fabrics. I bought this set for my father. He was in the process of redoing his family room and had just ordered new furniture. His dog is an untrained hound that acts like a feral cat. Totally used to jumping on, running around, and sleeping on his furniture. I didn’t want to see her ruin the new furniture so I bought these to see if they would work. It’s been almost two weeks and she won’t even go near the couch. I think she initially tried to get up on there but was immediately repelled by these pads.

We recently purchased new furniture for our living room and as much as we love her, we didn’t want our puppy on the furniture since she sheds and drools like crazy. I placed these under my spider plant that my cat has been jumping up and attacking. So far, these seem to be working as she has stopped attacking the plant. She doesn't like walking on the mats and I suspect that the nubs would hurt when landing on them after a jump.

These pads are no joke. They're heavy (not easy for a pet to push off) and quite sharp. I actually held my dog over the pad and had her paws touch it so she would know how it felt before jumping up on it and hurting herself. Their heaviness and prickliness makes them a bit hard to maneuver. The moment I placed the mat my shiba walked all over it. No yelp, whimper or classic shiba scream. Nothing. After a day she still does not care if there's a mat she will pass over it if the other side is interesting enough. Hopefully the mat outside can deter the stray cats.

These keep our dog off the sofa just fine. But the plastic smell is awful and hasn't aired out even when left outside for weeks. Our sofa now smells too.
