Description of HVAC Blower Motor Resistor for Grand Cherokee WJ 4.0L L6 4.7L V8 1999-2004 with ATC Part# RU-358

The blower motor resistor is an electrical component that is a part of the vehicle's heating and air conditioning system. It is responsible for controlling the blower motor’s fan speed. When fan speed is changed via the knob on the instrument cluster, the blower motor resistor changes setting, which changes the speed of the blower motor. This blower motor resistor fits for 1999 - 2004 J'eep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport Utility 4-Door 4.0L, 1990 - 2004 J'eep Grand Cherokee Limited Sport Utility 4-Door 4.0L, 2004 J'eep Grand Cherokee Special Edition Sport Utility 4-Door 4.0L. This blower motor resistor fits for 2002 J'eep Grand Cherokee Sport Sport Utility 4-Door 4.0L, 1999 - 2001 J'eep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport Utility 4-Door 4.7L V8, 1999 - 2001 J'eep Grand Cherokee Limited Sport Utility 4-Door 4.7L V8. Customers can find the product you need accurately according to the OE number. OE part number: 5012699AA, 05012699AA, RU358, RU-358, 973-424. Usually a bad or failing blower motor resistor will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential issue: Blower motor stuck on one speed; Blower motor does not work on certain settings; No air from the vehicle’s vents. A failed blower motor resistor can cause issues with the operation of the entire heating and air conditioning system. So it is necessary to replace it in time.

Defective part for air conditioning

14 days after installation. I had issues with it staying on and not shutting off the engine even when the jeep was off. It melted as you can see in the photo and video. Had to be replaced by dealer

Works and all fits

Just received, not the easiest of jobs but it fits and works great, lots of videos showing you how to cut power cords, no need to straighten the cords to the Outer edge of passenger door blower motor

Great buy for the price

This, like some other things on my Grand Cherokee, is a 100% defective part. This is my second purchase of this part. The first from a different manufacturer. This seems to be working fine. If you have a limited GC, keep your javelin in the glove compartment. If there is a malfunction, the fan either does not turn on or turns off. Even with the ignition switched off.

And then came the air conditioning!

After watching my buddy try to come up with five different (horrible) solutions to fix his mother's air conditioning in her 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and an order for the wrong one Part, he said: I was right, I stepped in and ordered this part. This is a direct replacement and fits perfectly. However, I had to travel to our local Napa and also purchase a #973-304 Dorman Blower Motor Speed Resistor Wiring Harness Pigtail. I had to buy a plug after doing a bit of google research. I found…
