Some work some don't

Today we received our walkie talkies and the students were very excited but as soon as we connected the walkie talkies to the batteries one didn't work. We were very disappointed that one of them didn't work and not sure if they would fix the broken walkie talkie they sent us.

Pros

Outstanding Reliability

We bought these for our campus emergency services. The radios have proven to be very reliable in our simulation exercises and offer a certain level of comfort when we experience a real event. They appear to be very durable, which is a further relief from our radio not falling apart when we need it most!

Made very cheaply for CB and radio equipment

Not what I expected, the reviews convinced me it was worth it. Not like that, below average. The battery died during normal use, and the volume through the headset was so low that it was barely audible at full volume. No tuning to Vox without cable, not included. The programming software is also no longer available. For a basic radio that barely works as expected. No thank you.

  • All right!
Cons

Ideal in this price range

So these devices have a few small quirks such as the sound quality is not very good and not very loud, so I can imagine that it is at outdoor events and possibly noisy areas. or something like that, but for us we only use them in quiet office environments, so it's really perfect! The charging setup for 8 radios is also a bit confusing, but as soon as we get some more money I will buy a charging station.

  • Vulgarity

The best return on your money.

Use these radios for cranes and rigging. Very clean with very good range at the chemical plant where I work. I tested a range of about 1 mile. Sure, if you don't cover the microphone hole and don't interfere with it with your hand. drop resistant. However, I don't like that they have a fixed belt clip instead of a spring-loaded one, I have to attach to the harness pads. My latest Retevis radios lasted 3 years and I need more as they break from high falls, rain and corrosion.

Useless and almost dangerous

I bought these walkie-talkies for an upcoming team job where I needed to coordinate a group of people doing dangerous work. Shouldn't have gone the cheap route. The signal-to-noise ratio of these radios is out of control. Words difficult to understand. It was 10ft and 200ft apart, different channels, in-ear, no in-ear. The guys thought other people could hear them, assumed they were coordinated, but they weren't. This could lead to an accident. At the end we just took off the walkie-talkies so…

Not as advertised for radios

I have read extensive reviews of this product and was not happy with the results. Reviews, particularly for cruises, said these handhelds work great on vessels of all sizes and that range isn't an issue. I recently took an 8 day cruise on one of Royal Caribbean's medium and small ships and had a TERRIBLE welcome. Our group was only 2 floors above us and when one of the parties was in their rooms we could not communicate on portable phones. In terms of communications on the ship, we would be…

RT28 works - you get what you pay for

RT28 Radio - UHFI I'm a radio amateur (K6WGX) who bought some of these to play with. They are pre-programmed with FRS frequencies (see diagram) that have Tone Coded Squelch enabled. I erased them and simply programmed FRS channels 1-16 to use FRS. They work great for me. The sound is not outstanding, but readable. The range is okay if you set the squelch to about 1. I like the USB charging port built into the radio. If you are unsure about programming them yourself, consult some local radio…
