Amazing quality for the price. I use this in noisy environments with lots of background noise; However, the built-in filters are AMAZING. No noise is transmitted; however all voice will do. Works way better than I ever hoped. It would be nice to have a clear channel display and LED backlight, but these are very minor issues. You will not regret buying it when you are in the market.

Units are well built and withstand drop damage well. Range is limited by terrain, buildings, etc.; it's just the science behind the device. In my area they worked for about 0.1 miles; Our roads aren't straight, so line of sight has been obstructed by buildings. I've been reading a bit more about FRS/GMRS radios and they are all very limited in line of sight. even the curvature of the earth affects the range. So I'm updating my previous review.

I bought these for our purchasing, planning and production managers as our factories are located in different buildings. We had to constantly search for people and even getting through the intercom was a problem. Retevis RT27 solved all these problems for us. Great radios for kids! It definitely doesn't look like cheap character walkie-talkies. They have good range - managed to get a signal 1.75 miles away for short periods when there were a lot of houses/trees in the way. The signal didn't last long, but I didn't try all the channels to get it back. I was surprised that we could even contact each other from such a distance. Channel switching is very simple. These radios are great. They have plenty of channels and some nice features that offer limited privacy even in the shared frequency range. With a cable (yes buy one, you'll need it) and supporting software (from the retailer, very responsive) you can set a few options. These include battery saver/scan cycle intervals, voice prompt, and multiple options per channel including configurable DCS and/or voice scrambling (distortion).
