Great Beginners - Computers and Accessories

This is a great topic for study and review. Please note that the board supplied with this kit is a power board only, supplying either 3 volts or 5 volts. This is not an Arduino board. The Project tutorials and guides you can get from their website use Arduino UNO boards. You will need an Arduino board to actually complete the project tutorials. If you're new to this and want to introduce yourself, your kids, or grandkids (etc) to electronics, check out any local electronics store…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

Waste of money if you don't have a microcontroller

I bought this unit to learn some simple circuits as the basic kit is said to have tutorials and instructions. These instructions are microcontroller specific, so there are literally no instructions or guides on how to build circuits without a microcontroller. Don't buy it if you're just starting to learn circuits unless you already have a microcontroller. waste of money.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Powered by USB cable and laptop

This worked for my project designing and testing LEDs for an N gauge railway signal bridge. I liked that the breadboard is powered by my laptop via the included USB cable could become. While I had an idea of what a breadboard would allow me to do, I had never worked with it. I found a few manuals online and a breadboard diagram. After a bit of experimentation, trial and error in a very short amount of time, I had success in my project.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Upgradable

Nice set for learning.

A nice little kit for building simple circuits. The plug-in module provides 3.3V and 5V outputs with a 5.0V input using a USB power supply or a 9V plug-in wall transformer with a 2.5 -mm connector. The only problem is that I was hoping the kit came with instructions on how to build circuits using this kit.

Pros
  • One-year trial version
Cons
  • Discontinued model

Great starter kit includes everything you need good price

Although I already had many items in the kit two things made it easy, a current transformer that plugs directly into the breadboard rails for power and ground, and a USB-A to USB-A cable. I can connect to any USB power source (like Apple's tiny iPhone charger) and power up the breadboard. There are also some details that I didn't know I needed until I saw them!

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • slim

This is a small breadboard about 3" x 2" that can connect two separate power supplies, like my Arduino Nano board. It's nice that it includes a power bank that supplies both 5V and 3.3V. To use this built-in power bank, you can either supply 5V from a standard USB outlet or charger, or plug in your own power bank. 9V 1A DC power supply, and it connects to the 9V connector on the circuit board. The power supply can be separated from this breadboard should you wish to use a larger breadboard. The

Pros
  • Got it!
Cons
  • Expensive

Bent contacts and broken pad

Slightly smaller than I expected. Everything looks good out of the box, neatly packaged, except for the unprotected power module and the broken pad. There are a few bent pins on one side where the included circuit board got stuck between the carrying case and the plastic box. It also looks like one of the headers was broken at the perforation somewhere along the way. I haven't tested any parts yet and will update the status of the module at this time.

Pros
  • Solid finish
Cons
  • Damaged

Lots of little things

Lots of little things for your electronic project needs. I wish there were some female to female connectors but they were in the description so I feel bad I didn't read better. Good value for money. I used it to set up my raspberry pi to send me messages when my ice cream maker is full. Work smarter, not harder, my mother always said. (She never actually said that) (Also, programming the Pi was a bit harder than just looking at the light on the ice cream maker, but what's the fun in that?)

Pros
  • price

  • little things
