Finally one that worked

It took 3 orders but I finally got one that worked. . Your mileage depends on the quality control of this product. Order Prime as you'll likely be returning some.

Cons
  • Some problems

Controller works fine but remote doesn't work at all

Controller works fine but remote doesn't work at all. prevents battery contact! The remote works about 5% of the time no matter how softly or hard I press the buttons.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Works great - New lighting

I was a little surprised. I do Christmas light shows and accidentally burned another test controller I was using to test RGB lighting. Instead of buying back the more expensive controller I was using, I went with this one. Finding the right power supply was a little tricky, but I ended up with an old Radio Shack pigtail adapter with interchangeable tips. I found a tip that worked great and was then able to use it as a layout tester when I needed to troubleshoot my RGB highlights. so i love it

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Negative impression

Cannot drive 1024 pixels as advertised

Revised from 1 star to 3, may fall back depending on lifespan or if they catch fire. After I cut my first WS2812b length from 5m to just under 1m (about 25 LEDs) the strand worked! Hooray! It's probably worth trying a secondary power supply in parallel for more LEDs, but that's it. The description says they can drive 1024 pixels, but mine couldn't drive 150. It's possible they are powering the circuit from a secondary power supply, but I haven't checked. Review. Ordered three 21 button versions

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Great for driving LEDs, but not all patterns are useful.

I bought these to run a 5m strip of ws2812 RGB LEDs that I have and they work fine. The remote is a radio controller, so you don't have to be in line of sight of the receiver, and you don't have to deal with a stupid IR receiver pointed at the ground or some other useless place (a friend has a controller with this design flaw, doesn't this). The patterns are beautiful and you can control the speed and brightness of each pattern, which adds a lot of flexibility. No to cons. The thing has about…

Pros
  • Great range
Cons
  • Protection

Christmas! As someone just getting into pixel lighting and having done some decent research (and purchases) on what it takes to run one of the programmable home light shows, I thought I'd give it a shot. At the moment it's mostly running the show, but in the future I intend to use it for testing pixel bars/lines. So far I'm satisfied. The remote control is good and the controller works as expected. I'm using 5V pixel strips and nodes (WS2812B) and was able to get 250-300 pixels with power…

Pros
  • Well done
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Excellent controller except FIRE

I really like this controller for its ease of use, variety of patterns and RF remote control; However, I'm rating it 1 star because it nearly started a fire. Dimming didn't work either, except in single color mode (e.g. no pattern). Regarding fire hazard, I used a 5VDC 15A power supply for a WS2812B RGB LED array (256 LEDs). The power supply has a recommended wattage for a 256 LED array, well below the 1024 LED limit for this controller. During use, the wires began to smoke after about 20-30…

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • For old
