I liked the well-made design. Ports are closed at the back, and the sprung door works well from the front. Dielectric grease is used to protect against moisture and rust. I was able to mount the device directly onto the old mount, eliminating the need to drill holes for the included mount. It was simply plugged onto the old bracket.

I used this to replace a broken trailer plug on a 2014 Escape that was having a lot of problems when it was raining. It turned out that when the factory plug got wet, the car was fooled into thinking the trailer was plugged in, and that caused a whole bunch of messages and problems! Ford couldn't understand it! The port is very well built and has a flap to keep moisture out. The irony is that the lid says FOMOCO (Ford Motor Company)! Maybe the dealer should do a little more research!

This product is of obviously high quality. BUT I can only give 3 stars. The installation guide ONLY tells you how to mount the hardware. There is no explanation at all about the wiring. I went to erich-jaeger-usa.com to find detailed instructions/diagrams. This is a huge company but their search function sucks.
