I wanted to gently tuck it under or along the carpet. I use this charger in Lincoln Town Car. In the car, the socket is at the front, so it just extends to the back. I gave 4 stars because the cable from the front 12v to the back of the armrest box was not long enough. Pros: This unit meets all the power matching needs for my car to charge/power my devices. The hardware is well put together and aesthetically pleasing. Disadvantages: not a minus in itself, but a preference. The power LED on the device (above the 4 USB ports) is blue and lights up to the pain limit in the car at night. The main problem I have had with this unit is a mechanical conflict between the long 12 volts and the circuitry in my car. This 12V USB plug sticks out a lot as it should. And after you add another 12V plug or USB cable, it takes quite a long time. Makes and models vary and I encourage you to check ahead of time.
