Well Done; lightweight

These are two well-known carpentry tools with hundreds of uses. Each of these instruments is well made and very accurate. No sign of "equity" in any of them. The Speed Square is constructed from aluminum, making it lightweight yet durable in normal use. The combination square has imperial units on one side of the ruler and metric units on the other. There is a built in level. Well done and very helpful

Pros
  • Strong and Durable Material: --- The 12" combination ruler itself is made of durable die-cast zinc, while the steel ruler is made of brushed stainless steel. The speed square is made of die-cast aluminum alloy, which is more durable for long-term use.

Squares are actually square

Both angles are very strong, with perfectly straight edges, easy to read markings and most importantly they are actually square. The combo angle is easy to adjust and tighten/loosen with the adjustment screw, and the groove on the ruler is just enough to keep it on track and at the right angle to the ruler. However, it was quite difficult for me to turn the handle to face the opposite direction. It took several very long minutes to put the pen back on the ruler when it was removed. Definitely…

Pros
  • Clear and Accurate Scale: --- Square carpenter's tool with deep precision scale engraving for excellent readability and long life.
Cons
  • ill thought out

Knurled nut does not hold metal ruler securely in place

, I have my dad's combination square - actually two of them but one is missing part of the ruler. I tend to lose tools on a busy day, I wanted to replace my second combo square. At first it seemed as if my father's 60-year-old combination square was reproduced exactly in this model. On a more severe test, measuring a 3/4 inch overhang of the front deck board over the edge joists, the ruler began to slip off the 3/4 inch mark. Neither I nor the assistant could tighten the nut enough to hold the…

Pros
  • Carpenter's Square: --- This aluminum carpenter's square features a durable aluminum body with CNC-machined edges for added precision and durability for any job or job site. Ideal for 3-1/2" and 5-1/2" cuts as well as handy 2x4, 1-1/2", 3" and 3-1/2" markers board sizes.

  • Dear

Two different items in one set - quality is not impressive

The combined square is pretty accurate. but a missed opportunity for many reasons. My calipers match the marks, so points for that. but the ruler is not 1 inch in diameter (it measures 0.967 inches) and does not follow the useful convention for reversed pages. It gets the correct metric side (in my opinion) since both sides start at 0 at one end; So you can flip it and take measurements on either end of your project, but the imperial side doesn't, so you have to count down to do the same. Mine…

Pretty good square flat edges

The first thing I checked was that the reference edges were flat enough and really perpendicular to each other. I checked with some other tools that I knew were square and flat, like my machine squares, and found that the edge of the combined square was flat and part of the ruler was square. Next thing I checked was the measurements on the ruler, they seem accurate, the ink they are printed with is dark and easy to read. Some prettier squares have color filled engraved numbers rather than just…

  • Unbelievable price

The knurled nut doesn't hold the metal ruler securely on the mark

I have my dad's combination square - there are actually two of them but one of them lost part of the ruler. The combination square is so important in construction when it comes to marking lines, checking angle, adjusting saws, marking grooves and so on. Since I tend to lose tools during the workday, I wanted to replace my second combo angle. At first it seemed as if my father's 60-year-old combination square was reproduced exactly in this model. But on a more rigorous test, measuring 3/4" of…
