📷 Rokinon 24mm T1.5 Wide Angle Cine Lens: Ideal for Olympus and Panasonic Micro 4/3 (MFT) Mount Digital Cameras (CV24M-MFT) Review

Disappointingly soft, wide open. Stop two stops and it's pretty good. Build quality is typical Rokinon, meaning it's solid. This is my third Rokinon and the aperture ring is quite stiff compared to the other two. I don't know why, but I hope it eases up a bit.

This lens saved me on a recent shoot in Yosemite. It's not that my other lens couldn't do the job, but it did get covered in frost. When I took it off, put on this fast lens and photographed it, it came out beautifully with a beautiful moon star. See print below. I also used this lens to shoot a low light youtube video called "Norway by Moonlight” with the A7SII. Great lens, I'll never get rid of it.

Excellent 24mm lens. In the comparisons I've seen, it fares well with the Canon L-series equivalent in all areas except highlights. Rokinon seems to be flaring up a little more. When using film, this can sometimes be an advantage for artistic purposes. Overall I like this lens. It's a bit bulky, sure, but the quality is top-notch. If you want a smaller, lighter lens at this focal length, try the 24mm f/2. I have an old Nikon AIS 24mm lens with an adapter that works fine for this purpose.

We love all of our Rokinon lenses except this one. We have 85mm, 50mm, 35mm, 24mm and 16mm. From the day we bought the 24mm lens it was just wrong. Focusing was ridiculously sloppy and wobbly, making it difficult to focus properly. We only dabbled with it until a third outsider using the lens offered the same criticism of the sloppy focusing. From Rokinon's 'Trinity' (24, 35 and 85 T1.5) this is my favorite lens for a number of reasons. First, it's the widest, which makes it apt to create more composition in your image. Because it's wider, you'll shake less, so it's best for all kinds of crafts. I have quite a few lenses of the same focal length but this one beats them all. Soft at T-1.5 but excellent at T-2.5. The price has little to do with the cost of this lens - I use a non-DS Rokinon kit for video while keeping my Canon L-series glass at home. I'm not a lens guru and don't have a lot of budget so these lenses are perfect. From DSLR shots to Black Magic Cinema Camera, I was at least familiar with how these lenses worked. The first thing I shot with them was a wedding and they were the only lenses I used on my camera. It takes some getting used to working with all prime lenses, but at t1.5 it's worth not zooming in as the lighting isn't always the best.
