With this latest generation of products, Samyang/Rokinon is ready to compete with the big names. I bought this lens to photograph groups of small chemical vials. The ampoules were approximately 2.5 cm high and had labels in fine print. The lens was used on a Sony A7Rii and did an excellent job of detail resolution. I did the same job a year earlier with a Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro lens on a Nikon D810 and the Rokinon/Sony combo was noticeably better. The extra range of 100mm macro compared to 70mm or 55mm is noticeable as there can be more space between subjects and the front of the lens. This

So I wanted to have a macro in my bag and have used Rokinon (wide angle) on Canon before. I saw the reviews about it and decided to buy it.
