The bench is made of cheap wood, but what can you expect for €55. There were a few scratches and paint chips in some places, but not critical. I assembled this bench myself in 30 minutes (I calculated the time that way). I followed the instructions as written. Initial assembly of the seat box was tricky as nothing holds the pieces in place until the legs/sides are in place. This bench is very strong. My wife and I can sit on it (only 300 pounds) without feeling any movement. It's quite small, wide enough for us to sit next to each other and put on our shoes (personally I think it's the perfect size).
