I'm new and just wanted to start with something simple. This set is the best for many reasons. everything a beginner needs is right in a nice tin can except for a teacher which you can find locally or in a book whichever you prefer. I intend to buy a few more of these as I am making a Christmas present for family members.

I ordered these to give as gifts in my first watercolor class. Recipients were very happy with their kits and started using them straight away. They are great for beginners as they even come with 3 small drawing boards. However, I was disappointed that there were only 2 boards in a set, not three. The colors are of course student quality and priced according to their quality. My beginners were very happy with their kits.

I was very happy when I got this until I started using it. Watercolor paint in a tube gives off a chemical odor that will give you a headache after a few minutes of use. Plus, after you're done with the pain, your area will still smell like chemicals. 12 half flowers was a joke. They were a bit crumbly and often fell out of the cups, which I just took out and put in the Altoids box and used the halves of the cups for my own watercolors.
