Get this if you have a hood valve!

One of my favorite cosmetic updates I've added to my TJ! The bonnet no longer trembles! And it makes the Jeep look like new again! Installation was easy other than the fact that the head of one screw turned. Be prepared to grind down the bolts if they are rusty or you haven't sprayed them with grease beforehand.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some bugs

Don't: Hood Pins

We bought 2 sets for our jeeps to use with hydraulic jacks. Thought they were better than the rubber ones. We're on a trip right now and it hasn't even been an hour since the latch came loose. We now ride with ratchet straps holding the hood. We drive 20 miles to work in a different jeep and each drive unlocks a page. I'll stick to the stock once I change them. Isn't worth the money to me. I don't even take off my ratchet strap when riding trails.

No Hood Flapper!: Exterior Accessories

Received this pre-off-road trip after remembering my last off-road trip (or any other trip I took) and how much hood flapper bothered me. Not with these! Flutter is gone. I didn't install them myself because I couldn't remove the screw that held them to the fender the last time I replaced the hood latches. I had to ask my mechanic to do it for me so this time I just asked them to install it so I didn't have to worry. I'm sure if you have the right tools it's easy to install.

Looks better than the faded plastic and no more hood cover

The hardest part of the installation was removing the old plastic latches. I ended up taking an angle grinder back with the old ones because there was no way to keep the head from turning while I removed the nut from the underside. Once the plastic had melted, I pulled it out and was able to put pliers on the smooth head. They do have plastic, which worries me, but assuming they're interchangeable and people pay attention when closing the latches, you should be fine. You also get rid of the…

You should have gotten that first.

I should have bought this product to start with. It looks a lot better and I doubt you'll ever need to replace any part while owning your Jeep. The factory rubber piece came loose while riding and the top of the hood latch fell off, so I had to order that and a set of Daystar tires. The top latch was $10 to replace (it broke when I did the hood post installation and it was obvious how cheap it was when I got it) and the Daystar was $25, so it is now a bad buy I would never use as I have…

They looked good until they broke. Warranty/support is useless

They installed them when my jeep was repainted to replace the original sun bleached rubbers. Looks really good, BYE... The plastic tab holding the latch in place came loose on one and then the other. It seems to happen more often when someone else, like a mechanic, closes it (I think if it doesn't close they force it down and snap it off). Without a latch, the latch simply jumps onto the wheel well, leaving numerous scratches on the paintwork. I filed a warranty claim with the manufacturer to…

Looks great and solid though.

Really wanted to give this product 5 stars, it is very durable and looks GREAT. It's good if you put them on. This is a job that will take 20-30 minutes maximum. One side fits like a glove, absolutely no problem; in about 5 minutes. Now let's go to the other side. We barely finger tightened the nut on the underside of the floor; everything went wrong here. This thing was stuck, it wasn't moving. We couldn't get this thing to take it off or keep trying to put it on. First let me mention that…
