🔧 Rugged Ridge 11236.02 Front Tow Hook: Black; Fits 42-02 Jeep CJ/Wrangler YJ/TJ - Sturdy and Reliable Review

Excellent towing hooks. I like the flaps that prevent the rope from popping out. They fit perfectly into the existing holes on my Jeep TJ and are easy to install.

The only problem with this is rust and how quickly it rusts, I received them on 3/1/21. And I add this rating on 25.03. 21 Looks like it's just surface rust so it's not hard to remove and no backing will fix anything, but there's no problem with the main hook itself.

As expected. Perfect fit for YJ. The bolts that came with the tow hooks (see my picture) rusted and looked ugly in a short time. I purchased the correct factory torx hardware here at Revain from another seller.

Good news. It is a perfect match for a 2004 Nissan Frontier (contrary to the website). Bad news - get your own bolts; these do not fit. Very bad news: the spring tongue has to be made out of potato chips. At least that's what it looks like after just a week of road salt. I've never seen anything so rusty.

Restored the 'male' aspect of the golden 'soccer mom' image I felt while driving. It's a little more complicated than installation, but not too much. I added an extra class 8 bolt to make it bulletproof. Very difficult. A pretty solid device. All pre-drilled holes are aligned.

This is a strong and well made tow hook, however it can only be fitted to the Jeep YJ if you keep the original bumper. I installed a tubular bumper on my jeep that didn't have room to attach this hook. I wanted to mount it under the bumper on the frame but the spring strut is too close to the bumper. It only mounts over a standard square bumper. The tubular bumper does not allow installation from above.

I didn't like that the outermost holes are 2 3/4 inches apart. Some reviews list 3 1/2 inches in the description. (Blind as a bat or unable to read a ruler.) The correct distance between the farthest holes is 2 3/4 inches and the distance between the holes is 1 3/8 inches. And of course the distance between the holes is not specified in the product description. I will keep them, I can still use them.
