Rugged Ridge 13551.08 Jeep Wrangler TJ Radio Mounting Bracket for Windshield - High-Quality, Easy Installation! Review

Very happy with this mount. It supports my BTECH Mobile UV-5001 VHF/UHF radio. Rugged Ridge claimed that my 2001 Jeep TJ used screws instead of rivets, but that wasn't the case. First I had to drill out the rivets and then buy metal screws to attach the bracket. Otherwise, the mount itself is well designed and solid. 4 stars because I had to run to the hardware store.

Unfortunately my 2002 TJ turns out to have rivets, not hex bolts. I had to "Drill, baby! Drill!" I removed the rivets and used two #14 screws and some rubber washers to install the bracket. Good product. My Uniden Bearcat 980SSB is out of the dash and hanging beautifully on this bracket. Highly recommended. The supplier responds quickly and clearly to questions and answers. I will be buying more Rugged Ridge products. Excellent work.

This is a great way to install a CB in an early TJ. Just be sure to use the magnetic screwdriver - you DO NOT want to drop the screws when trying to install them (the screw needs to go through the windshield hinge, through the bracket, and then into the windshield frame). But if you do, they are #10-24 1/2" Flathead (available at your local hardware store). I also used some blue LocTite on the bolts when I installed the bracket on the Jeep.
