The threads on this mandrel are too long and protrude about 1/2 inch into the hole saw meaning you won't be able to drill the hole to full depth the hole saw In my case I used a Ruko 8-1/4" hole saw which is exactly 1-1/2" deep. So, for example, if you're drilling through a joist that's nominally 1-1/2" thick, you can't. Again, I used a Lenox arbor to get the full depth of cut, and the locating pins are slightly smaller than other arbors by Lenox or Milwaukee (not as strong).
