Installation of wire No. 10 - tuff.

Accurate cutting and stripping of the #10 wire is critical to closing the case and proper operation of the device. A beginner will have a hard time getting it right, but it can be done.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Low

The kit does not include a strain relief.

Strain relief not included. This is mentioned in the instructions, not shown in the pictures and is not included in the kit. Luckily I was able to reuse those in the jar I replaced.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works the way you think. Thumbs up!

I ordered this to make my own extension cord for my plasma cutter. I have a 50 amp outlet and it's hard to find a #6 wire cord that's really rated for 50 amps, so I made my own. I chose 40 feet because it suited my needs. This end was just what I needed for the plasma cutter/welder side.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Doubtful

Fire Hazard in Plugs

Be very careful when choosing a surface mount outlet. The socket was fine after the initial installation, but after a while it smelled like burnt plastic. We had a hard time identifying where the smell was coming from. Finally we discovered it. This destroyed the extension cord's welding end plug, but fortunately there was no fire, which could have been catastrophic.

  • New
Cons
  • Something Different

Questionable design

The path for the ground wire goes where the screw goes that connects the two halves of the plug. There's no room for 8 gauge wire that I've attempted to use, let alone the recommended 6 gauge wire. The only route available (recommended and unintuitive) requires a tighter turn than recommended, and the internal protrusions seem too small. For short-term communication (no more than 30 minutes), I tolerated it.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • I'll write later

Much better than the big box versions

I've slowly rebuilt the forks on most micro milking machines. I am not an electrician and of course I am happy about great instructions. A fantastic cable grip and rubber strain relief as a second layer make this plug completely leakproof, which is very important in the food industry where we will be washing the water regularly. This fork replaced a similar but different fork I bought from Home Depot the day before. You can't go wrong with this fork.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Doesn't fit everything

Good Good enough for electrics

This outlet works fine. It's not very durable, but the plastic seems to be of good quality. Might be a little brittle in very cold temps, I'm not going to rock it and smack the pavement just to find out. The metal part is thick enough to feel solid, but there's nothing stopping it from bending at the top if you pull the cord very hard. Screw terminals are best for solid wire. I used stranded wire so before inserting I crimped the tabs from short lengths of copper tubing onto the wire. Knockouts

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Secret

Design/Exterior Stunning, BUT.

Used to make a sweat extension. Of course I wanted something super strong. Loved the apparent quality of the exterior. Seemed durable, pleasant to the touch, etc. However, when I opened up the wiring I was less excited. While it can undoubtedly pass some limited 50 amp tests, the actual wiring components struck me as too light. Very thin and an attempt to increase stiffness with stamped creases on the teeth. The tines flex SLIGHTLY, in fact the tine on mine was bent so much I doubt there would…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled
