Broke after 2 months and now I can't return it

Liked the amp when I got it, good sound, great features and small form factor. I loved it until today it stopped working 2 weeks after my return window closed. I can't get my money back so now I have a fancy rock for $140. Don't waste your time and money on Chinese electronics. Buy a reputable brand, at least they have a warranty policy that really guarantees their stuff.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

SMSL has something for everyone

I've wanted this since I first saw it here at Revain. I need to tidy up my TVs and audio gear for listening, but a full-fledged A/V receiver is overkill for me. This amp offers everything I need in a very small box. Some of my favorite features that don't appear together in many others are Bluetooth with Aptx, an optical TV input, an easy-to-read display, and intuitive controls. It's good that it's so easy to use because there's not really a manual. I mean it's there, but it's short and maybe…

Great amp with a few major issues

Hello! The SMSL AD18 is actually an incredibly good little amp. I've used it predominantly with Bluetooth and USB as the source. I've used it with all types of speakers, from Martin Logan electrostatic speakers and large MG-IIIa's to tiny bookshelves. So far it has had no problem providing good sound to anything I threw at it. In keeping with all of the above, this amp should and should get a 5 star rating as it truly deserves it bar one very serious flaw. To be honest I don't really understand

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Disappearing

Amazing sound. SDB mode sounds great most of the time with .

Wow. Amazing sound. SDB mode sounds great with pretty much anything else I can add. It's much more "dynamic" when SDB is enabled. Bluetooth works fine outside of the room on a MacBook, iPhone, etc. It was surprisingly easy to set up, set up, connect and enjoy. The form factor is just right to hide in a bookshelf. The LCD is great - the blue almost looks like the vacuum fluorescent display I've always loved. Nice that you can dim the display. Amazingly powerful Bowers & Wilkins 683 floorstanding

Not for me but decent product

Not for me. The amp was loud enough and fairly well made, but all the magic and excitement of the humble tube hybrid amp it replaced was gone. This tube amp kind of fried after 3 months but I didn't realize how great it was until its digital replacement came along, this SMSL AD80. SMSL's music sounded so crazy that on the third day I broke down and collected it and went back to Amazon. Also, I should make a special note that I'm very skeptical about this weird subwoofer connection. The sound…

Little house of power!

I've had SMSL for a few weeks now. I hooked it up to my Bose 301 and expected it wouldn't be able to squeeze them hard. The reviews I've seen have said it feeds much smaller bookshelf speakers. let me tell you This is an incredible thing! Not only did it push my 301s, it pushed them BIG! I also have good floorstanding speakers. I almost have a feeling SMSL AD 18 could power them! This device is very durable with excellent build quality. I haven't had any problems with that. It's hard for me to…

Nice little widget! ***UPDATE BUG!

Original review Okay, I have to anticipate something. First, I've worked in the electronics industry my entire adult life. Next, I'm picky about the sound. And finally, I built this unit into a friend's system that has some really nice components while others are a bit versatile. Here is the system; A pair of 6.5" Revel bookshelf speakers (cool!), a vintage 12" MTX subwoofer (from the '90s), an Echo Dot, a 55" TV, Roku, and a Bluetooth source (usually my mobile phone). So we have compressed…
