The mats are made from high quality rubber and are large enough to fit inside any boot or shoe. You stay on the ground without moving. I have one in the garage and one in the closet/laundry room. These boot trays are a good size for 3 pairs of large boots. The shape is well thought out and the inner bottom has raised ribs that keep the boots in place and allow water, melted snow etc to drain off the boots. However, the trays are made of rubber and the rubber has not properly cured, so these trays emit a very strong rubber smell. The smell is so strong that it is almost impossible to leave trays in the house. You could just put the trays and boots outside where the smell isn't important,
