Good luck with blending or layering - more like a pencil

I wanted to try oil pastels because I was intrigued by the color, the videos showing blending techniques, etc. Turns out it has little to do with blending or layering this. Sometimes another layer will erase the previous one (e.g. scrubbing). When you blend, it's like deleting layers. Some colors can go really well together. In addition, it is difficult to separate the paper cover. Basically it doesn't give me the effect I expected from what I saw in the tutorial videos. upset. Feel like…

Ideal for beginners

If you've never worked with oil pastels, you should definitely try this set. This was the first oil pastel set I used due to my AP drawing class (I'm in high school) and I have to say I was very impressed, especially after seeing the price. I thought I wouldn't like oil pastels because they don't blend as easily as soft pastels, but I love the texture they create. The set has a good range of colors and is very bright. I'm inspired to try more than just "color " now!

A friend recommended that I try these Cray-Pas for some of my art projects; I didn't know such pens for oil pastels. This starter kit has enough colors for my needs, but I can imagine real artists want even more variety. I love the creamy feel of the pencils and the bold pigment they apply. I'll probably switch to expressionist 48-color cray-pas once I have more experience with this type of color. I'm still experimenting with using pastel colors on different types of paper and other surfaces…

Great value but poor packaging

Amazing price for great quality/art material. Usually art materials are EXPENSIVE. I'm an art student. As a student, I spent my clippings on art supplies. These were the cheapest I've ever paid for and you get so much! I ordered a set of 50 pieces. I wanted to order my dad's original brand which I saw at home and used as a kid. Unfortunately I couldn't find this box when I got home for Thanksgiving. On Sunday evening I drove back to school and the next morning I had classes. I finished painting

A bright box with a smiling sun. The colors are housed in a thin, vacuum-formed plastic shell. The oil pastels are labeled with a white paper envelope with pink and black lettering.
