Large size and temperature. So slow.

STOP! DON'T MISS THIS REVIEW! I bought this flash drive because it was cheap, small, and supposedly fast. Was everything as He said? DELIVERED FAST. I was very excited to try this. I opened the package and it was what I thought it would be. It is great. TINY. (PERFECT SIZE). I connected it to my laptop and there is an instant connection. NO SETUP REQUIRED. I've started transferring some files, 20GB in total. IT WAS VERY SLOW, but not at first. It was around 50-60 Mbps at first, which is prettyโ€ฆ

Still works. - USB sticks

Too bad it's not plastic. After constant use it started to crack and then broke in my laptop. I had to fish out the fragments with a blade. From now on I'll stick with metal washers as I'm not comfortable with them.

Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Serves its purpose. 256GB model

The capacity is excellent. Small profile is good. The declared 130 MB is the reading speed. Please be careful. UP TO 15X write speed at USB 2 speeds. Keywords here are UP TO. I use this device to store FLAC music files that I can play in my car. I have this drive connected to USB 2, 3 and 3.1 ports for recording. I've found extremely small performance differences between USB 3 and 3.1 (between 35 and 55MB when writing 200MB to 2GB at a time). On a USB 2 port, I get about 20MB of speed onโ€ฆ

Must be fake/fake. Formatted to 32GB only

Bought with the intention of having extra storage space on my laptop which is also 256GB. Out of the box it showed up as 256GB in the command prompt/disk properties, but I couldn't write more than 32 +/-. When I tried to write to it it was only able to save about 30GB The write dialog failed and said the card needs to be formatted. I couldn't get any other reading on the card, it was useless so I formatted it and it only showed 32GB. I was surprised he wasn't actually under the gig, as is often

Heat Sensitivity under Computers & Accessories

It was a great little device and until recently I would have given it 4 stars. However, after a few hours of use, it gets warm and stops working completely - my MACbook no longer recognizes this after about an hour. You need to stop work, pull it out to cool and try again in 15-20 minutes. Not very productive. It's so nice and compact, but it gets warm even with the fan directly underneath.

Cons
  • Good but not great

The old model was better.

We've used the ancestor of these ultra-thin drives for years as an easy way to add always-on storage to your MacBook Pro (any USB 3.0+). Just plug in, format and forget. They have always done a great job and always performed well. We have just ordered 3 copies of this new model (256GB) and have experienced very slow write speeds. If you check the system profiler you can easily see that the old model registered full speed every time it was plugged in, but this new model often goes back to USBโ€ฆ

Hard drives fail due to "overstress "!

I have bought 14 of these discs in the last 8 months. To date, FIVE out of fourteen have failed. But when I say it failed, they haven't lost any data about them; They are simply locked and cannot be assembled. Called Sandisk and they tell me it's a "security feature" so my data won't be lost. How is it a "security feature" if I can't access my data? The only solution Sandisk offers is to replace the drive and I can send the 'failed' drive to a third party and pay $50 to have the data recovered.

Cons
  • Very expensive
