Battle Between Sangean 160 and Sony Digital Pocket Radios

About 15 years ago I started listening to the radio at night to keep my ears from ringing from the battle. I started with a digital pocket radio from Sony. It worked really well and I ended up wearing out three Sonys. Moving on to 2016 - retired and no more stress and the ringing has stopped. But I still enjoy listening to late night radio shows. I decided to switch to Sangean and bought 160 for a change. I like the backlit dial and the 5 added FM presets (10 total). The 90 minute shutdown is a

Excellent FM reception, below average AM

This is a Sangean DT-160 test Short version: Excellent FM reception, below average AM reception. The radio controls are not intuitive. Only 90 days guarantee. Long version: I use this radio in the San Francisco Bay Area. Outdoors: The FM reception of this radio is its strong point. FM signals are strong and fix quickly without interference from other stations. AM reception is a weakness of radio, although stations pick up quickly, most are weak and difficult to hear. It's in a big metropolis…

Another good radio Sangean

I'm a fan of Sangean radios in general, I bought a DT-160 for travel use. I also have a DT-120 that I use for hiking, biking and sports. In this review we will compare the two models. I listen to 90% AM, so I tend to focus on AM rather than FM. The DT-160 has features that are great for travel. The rotary tuning knob is handy and an improvement over previous radios. The clock (which is also displayed when the radio is switched off) is practical. The biggest improvement, however, is the backlit…

Not the best performance Sangean

I have two amazing little Sangean radios: SR-35 and WR-7. The $20 SR-35 is surprisingly sensitive, and while it's not small enough to be pocket-sized, its slightly larger body delivers a fuller sound than almost any of its competitors. I have two of these that I use every day and I've given some away as gifts. The WR-7 costs four times as much, and with good reason. This beautiful wooden case looks like a miniature mid-century tabletop radio (think the KLH from 1965). Sounds amazingly reliable…
