Saponify 8 lb variety packs allow you to sample 8 different Saponify soap bases. The Variety Pack includes a mold that produces up to 12 guest-sized bars from each 1 lb block - Perfect for beginners and for experienced soap makers wanting to explore different bases. Saponify melt and pour soap base is easy to use and lathers exceptionally well. Formulated by a professional soap maker and Soap Guild member, this base has a high melting point and is extra hard, resulting in long-lasting gentle cleansing soap bars. Transparent Saponify soap bases can be used as a suspension base, allowing you to embed smaller soaps, herbs and seeds, or toys inside of your bars. Simply allow the base to cool until it has reached a gel-like consistency before adding objects to be suspended. Saponify soap base can hold up to 3% additives such as skin safe fragrance and color. Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Sucrose, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Titanium Dioxide (whitener used in non-transparent varieties), Water, and one of the following: Shea Butter, Avocado Butter, Coconut Milk, Olive Oil, Charcoal, Aloe. Saponify soap base makes it easy to create amazing soaps, from simple shaped bars to complex multi-layer creations. Simply cut the brick into 1-inch cubes, place into a microwave safe container, and heat until the base is fully liquid. Add your favorite skin-safe color and fragrance (optional), pour into a silicone or plastic mold, and spray with alcohol for a smooth, bubble-free finish.

Blocks of soap don't wrap well

Individual blocks of soap are poorly packaged - polyethylene film is much thinner than, say, ordinary kitchen cling film and has many holes that allow moisture and air to pass through. The plastic foil also felt wet and corroded, believed to be due to the solvent properties of fatty acid oils, making it sticky and difficult to handle, akin to a piece of chewing gum losing its grip due to overheating and dissolving in the mouth. This grade is being repackaged as not all bricks were in equally…

Simply cut the stone into 1-inch cubes, place in a microwave-safe container, and heat until the base is completely liquid. Add your favorite skin-friendly color and scent (optional), pour into a silicone or plastic mold and drizzle with rubbing alcohol for a smooth, bubble-free finish.

I just cube them in about 1" and melt them on the stovetop in a saucepan over low heat (directions say to add in the microwave and stir, but I feel like I have more control over the stovetop I have - just a personal preference). I'm new to soap making and wanted something - something that would give me the opportunity to try lots of soap bases without having to spend a lot of money and buy…

Cons
  • No Automatic

Since March 2nd I have bought 6 of these sets and 2 more sets. I haven't had any issues so far and was glad they were so easy to use and fun to use. I know how important soap is above all. now, but it was very sad to see the price go from $42 to $64 in such a short period of time. I haven't bought them since, but I still want them. I found it a bit high before as it didn't look very obvious when melted and yet I stuck with them as they have all different types in one set. I bought another soap…
