Description of ๐ŸŽจ Sax True Flow Crystal Magic Glazes set - Assorted Colors, 12pcs - 4oz each - 248469

Tiny crystals mixed with a speckled base melt and move during firing, allowing the colors to bloom for beautiful, unique results. Safe for younger students. Crystalines fire at Cone 06 (2165 degrees Farenheit or -2269 degrees Farenheit). Non-toxic and lead free but not recommended for dinnerware due to surface characteristics. Serves as a fun art project or experiment with classes, summer camps, and beyond. Easy and safe for middle school students to use. Results in a unique masterpiece that kids can give as gift or hang in their bedroom or activity room.

Wonderful slow firing effects in this glaze

I love the wonderful effects these glazes give. This is a low fired glaze and I fire to a cone of 6. But I fire these with my cookie load of 04. They work great on 04. I usually use them as a top coat for interesting effects. I also use them as a refire for a 6 item cone that didn't end well. That works every time.

Pros
  • Pottery and Ceramics
Cons
  • Safety

Colors are not the same as in the product image - buyers beware!

This set did NOT include Desert Mist or Lily Jade as pictured but instead featured Spotted Kiwi and Popoy Fields which I have posted pictures of. It would be very helpful if there was a color chart or a link to another website to see the colors before ordering - and of course it would be nice if the colors advertised were supplied! Haven't used the frosting yet but am looking forward to trying it.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires a base

Decent Glazes

I read the previous reviews and also looked them up on google and found that some of them are transparent, translucent, opaque etc. I would have posted the table I found but now I can't find them again. I wrote everything on each glaze jar so I know in the future. I didn't like that there was no chart guide and that I had to go back here and look at one of the reviewers' charts to figure out which color is which. I have posted some photos of 3 layers of translucent or clear icing, the coasterโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

EDIT. I'm increasing my rating from 1 star to 3 because after further experimentation I found that firing at higher temperatures made them look more like the photos on the listing. I read on the manufacturer's website that they can be fired on Kegel 6 (not 06 but 6) which is not stated anywhere on the product page nor in the instructions. So I gave it a try and they look a lot better, the crystals melted into a more "liquid" pattern at a higher temperature. I've included a photo (the one withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
