These are excellent cutting attachments. I recently used them to cut holes for door locks in a 1/8" sheet steel gate post. They are made from HSS high speed steel. It's an alloy that's harder than common tool steel. Mild steel and anything softer without dulling. The only downside is that the harder the edge the more brittle it becomes. They don't bend when you cut towards the end. If you push too hard they will snap. I have a metal shop and a repair shop , and I have a bag of my Rigid 12V tool

I don't think they are as good as they used to be. Maybe I've gone insane. Anyway, they're still my "go to" bits. I've tried competitor Dremel (more expensive!) and porter cables (HOOM!) and keep coming back to them. I use them every day at work to cut plastic, acrylic, PVC, wood and more. I've used these bits with a DeWalt DW660 rotary tool to carve 3/4" hardwood curls and also 3/4 treated ones plywood to cut outside. I cut an extensive spiral work through 2 1/2 pieces of pine boards 7 feet long, 12" wide and 3/4" thick before dulling the 1st blade. I have no complaints about these beats.
