Works as advertised

This was a replacement bathroom door lock for the house we just bought. The door cutout was already finished, so assembly was very easy for me. The lock is perfect and locks. The only complaint I have is that the grip notch is a bit shallow and not the easiest. The lock works fine. Turning the locking knobs was easy.

Pros
  • For 1-3/8" to 1-1/2" thick doors
Cons
  • Requires outlet

To wide. Does not fit between bars.

Brass is beautiful and matches other Schlage locks and handles. But it doesn't fit between the moldings of existing pocket doors. These doors were fitted in the 1960s and the hardware replaced circa 1990. But this device does not fit. It is not an exact replacement for "traditional" similar devices. If you build new ones, they will work just fine.

Pros
  • Double Sided Plates
Cons
  • So-so

Worked while it took

Easy to install. I used a saw (reciprocating saw) for the cut. The workmanship is not of high quality, but it doesn't look too cheap. Another reviewer notes that the latch is difficult to turn, but it feels almost right to me: I didn't feel any friction; spring pressure only. The design requires a fair amount of spring tension to secure it in place. And this is where my failure came in - the rod spring broke after 16 months of infrequent use. Since the price is good, I came back to try again…

Pros
  • Pre-assembled for left-to-right opening doors
Cons
  • Upgrades

Perfect replacement for an old part

Our home was built over 20 years ago and things like door hardware are starting to show their age. I have a pocket door leading to the bathroom and wanted to replace the tarnished hardware to match the rest of the hardware. I didn't find any manufacturer markings on the old one, but the measurements given in the description seemed close to me and the picture looked very similar to the one already installed. I was delighted to receive the unit and found it to be a truly perfect replacement for a
