These are the best tire levers I've ever used. I can see where they might break if you've actually tried a particularly difficult tire, but you're trying too hard when they break. You could say I'm a Schwalbe fan. I have ridden Schwalbe tires for many years and have clocked many thousands of marathon miles (I ride about 8000 miles on one set). PRO-* (Important)- I've tried other tire levers (a bunch with great reviews) and these have become the ones I use. I can get them between the tire and rim when NONE of my levers can. (These include Park Tools, Pedros, Crank Brothers and a few others). • Like most, they have a notch that snaps into place when the tire is removed. Less commonly, they also have a mechanism for locking and sliding when mounting a tire (of the other levers I own, only my much larger Crank brothers' lever has one). •
