I only had to use them once during this review but after some experimentation I was able to disconnect and reconnect the chain. I was using a 1/8" single speed chain. I was concerned about chain damage based on other comments posted, but that wasn't an issue for me. I'm no bike expert. But I was expecting an all-in-one tool to have a fairly normal sized hex for a fairly "normal" bike. The hex I needed was slightly larger and the next one on the bottom was too small (to mount/tighten the handlebars to the front of the bike). But even if the hex would fit, I think it would be difficult to turn. The 9-in-1 tool has served us well over the years and none of the tools have ever broken or worn out despite frequent use. It definitely works and is offered at a good price. I have only two criticisms, one slightly more important than the other. The first remark is the lack of overlays on the handles. When I bought it I didn't think it would be a problem, but it was my first time using a circuit splitter. I underestimated the force required to break and reconnect the chain.
