The screen was scratched and dirty but seemed to clean well. There are scratches, but when the screen is on, they are not visible. The installation is quite complicated. I would recommend disassembling the hinge completely and separating the top half of the console (the entire top display assembly) for installation. The replacement screen had the wrong connector. As you can see in my first picture the connector from the display doesn't match the port on the board. The second photo (broken original screen) shows that the two connectors are completely different. True, I ran into a late-production 3DS in 2017, so the port may have been changed.
