Good price! in Crafting

I bought this for my daughter who is studying ceramics for one of her liberal arts subjects. This is her first year, so she doesn't need anything advanced. The minimum set in a student bookstore is expensive. I found this set and it was very valuable and contained so many other tools. The quality is good and the price is unbeatable.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Negative print

Have worked on pottery and pottery tools

I bought modeling clay and here is this to work with. It had something else to do with the grandson. They were suitable for clay, but probably I still didn't understand that they were intended for making tapes? made of clay? We had fun even though we obviously didn't know what we were doing with clay or tools. You seem strong enough.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Not bad but...

A basic set that gets the job done

As expected, this is a very basic set for working with ceramics. It went through my first semester and all parts still work. As others have noted, wooden parts will get moldy, but who would put wet wood in a plastic box without drying it first? Kept clean and dry, these tools are ideal for the beginner. I especially liked that the needle tool was all-metal, which doesn't corrode.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I doubt it

Great set for the price

Great set for the price but the edges have faded and barely survived 6 weeks of use (approx 8 hours a week). They are wooden and unfinished so they will start to mold if you don't dry them properly. The needle is weak and bent after the first two uses. The wire cuts well. For anything but the short class, you're better off investing in a more expensive product. Used on Long Beach White Cone 10 Cone and B-Mix 10 Cone.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Useless features

Susceptible to mildew Best in Craft

This can be taken for granted when working with pottery and clay, especially when everything has to be damp, but they went moldy almost immediately when I left them in the plastic bag provided for more than a day after use. They kept going moldy, too after I cleaned them. Yes they worked but the wood tools were damaged because they had so many cavities that the mold couldn't be completely removed and I didn't want mold growing in my house all the time.

Pros
  • Absolutely brilliant!
Cons
  • Weak Set

You get what you pay for.

I bought this set because it was the cheapest on Amazon. Having worked with sound for a number of years, I can say the following: 1. If you don't have your own studio, you won't use this set. Any general workshop has the best basic pottery tools.2. If you decide to buy your own set, buy a more expensive but higher quality one. The only items you need from such a kit are a needle, trimming tool and wire. Needle tool and wire in this set are acceptable; The cutting tool is blunt and too round…

Pros
  • Porcelain and ceramic tools
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Great Starter Kit

WHY I BUY IT: I've just started a beginner pottery class and decided to buy my own tools as sharing tools provided by the teacher made me slowed down too much. WHAT YOU GET: I bought an 8 piece set that includes a variety of basic tools (see photo). The tools are quite high quality for the price: they are made of steel and hardwood. As a beginner, I was able to easily shape clay with these tools and didn't notice much of a difference from the teacher's higher quality tools. Tools come in a…

Not perfect, but good value for money.

If you just need an inexpensive kit to see if you like tossing or don't need it for long then this is a great option. As with most tools, you get what you pay for and the edges on wood are thicker/blunter and the edges on band tools dull faster than better quality tools. However, they are fully functional and barring marginal issues, my set is holding up well for the six months I've been using it. Remarkably, the metal scraper, needle tool, sponge and cutter appear to be of the same…
