Description of 🧪 Seachem Alkaline Buffer 10.5oz / 300g

RAISES PH: Alkaline Buffer is a non-phosphate buffer to raise pH and alkalinity (KH). If looking to target a specific pH, use with Seachem’s Acid Buffer. PLANTED AQUARIUM: These buffers are designed for the planted aquarium or for very hard water where phosphate buffers may pose an algae or cloudiness problem. SAFE: Seachem’s Alkaline Buffer is gentle, safe, and enhances the freshwater environment. USE: To adjust pH gradually, use Alkaline Buffer along with Seachem’s Acid Buffer. When using together to target a specific pH, utilize the suggested ratio chart. DIRECTIONS: To increase pH, use 1 teaspoon (6 g) for every 80 L (20 US gallons) daily until desired pH is reached (this dose raises alkalinity by about 1 meq/L (2.8 dKH)).

This material is ideal for discus, all soft water fish and plants.

Ideal for discus, all soft water fish and plants. I add 1/2 teaspoon of this for KH with 1/2 teaspoon of Equilibrium for GH and 1/4 teaspoon of acidic buffer per 5 gallons of RO water. That makes the PH around 6.5-6.8, GH 2.5-3 and KH 2.5-3. That's low enough to keep Discus happy, mine breed constantly, as does my Bristlenose Plecos. If I change the water at least once a week, every two weeks at the latest, the plants are doing great, but I can't do that forever. But it is possible for both…

Pros
  • SAFETY: Seachem's alkaline buffer is gentle, safe and improves the freshwater environment.
Cons
  • Faulty

Effective, safe and has a long way to go.

I could not find any negative effects such as cloudiness or a negative reaction from my cichlid. Use as directed and if you are not sure if you need the full dose, start with half the dose and give the aquarium 3-6 hours to mix and shake as the PH will not change in any solution, including aquariums, immediately adapts. I use this in conjunction with their mineral supplement to harden the water to maintain mineral rich water in my tank along with a high (e)PH for my cichlid and although I don't

Pros
  • INSTRUCTIONS: To raise pH, use 1 teaspoon (6 g) per 80 L (20 US gal) per day until desired pH is reached (this dose will increase alkalinity by approximately 1 mEq/L (2.8 dKH)).
Cons
  • Working speed

This material is very suitable for freshwater aquariums.

I use quite a few Sea Chem products. Some are better than others, but all seem useful together or individually. This alkaline buffer is excellent for maintaining the stability of buffer minerals and pH levels in aquariums that become more acidic and softer over time. pH tends to decrease. This alkaline buffer contains more minerals to restore hardness and pH stability in your aquarium. It is a very fine powder and dissolves very well in water, especially running water. A dose or two throughout…

Pros
  • PLANT AQUARIUM: These buffers are designed for aquariums with plants or very hard water where phosphate buffers can cause algae or turbidity problems.
Cons
  • Very Expensive
