No Mfg Warranty good for data storage

Please note that these drives are "OEM" and therefore only have the warranty provided by the seller and not a manufacturer warranty. Usually they are purchased from system integrators who then provide a warranty for the entire built system.

Pros
  • glitter
Cons
  • unreliable

Fast rides but very noisy.

Excellent drive. I have 4 in QNAP. The only downside is that they are very, very noisy. I wanted enterprise quality but didn't know it was affordable. If I had been aware of the noise, I probably would have reduced the number of drives so my NAS doesn't stay in the basement. Otherwise they are starry.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • old

2 year drive with no warranty

I bought one of these from Quiet Day Shopping, when I received it I installed it on my server and immediately ran a SMART test. He showed 18,155 working hours! I then checked the Seagate warranty page and found that the drive was out of warranty. I am returning the disc and ordered another one from a different seller. I really hope I get a new disc this time.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

ATTENTION TO THE BUYER! NO WARRANTY

Looks like I got into a gray market battle. Seagate states NO WARRANTY on the drive I received. To return. That's ridiculous. Revain should punish the vendors who pull this junk. EDIT/UPDATE: So I returned it and bought another one, except this time I made sure to select the one specially sold by AMAZON (it was $16 more). This drive was packaged slightly differently and came with a full 5 year warranty. Good minus 6 days. Stay away from other junk sellers like SabrePC.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Reliable drives with great value

As of Spring 2018, the Seagate Exos 7E8 ST8000NM0055 8TB drives offer the best value in terms of price per TB and features, despite the 10TB -Version not much lagging behind. on the price front. I've compared this enterprise-class drive against both Seagate's consumer line-ups (Barracuda Pro/Ironwolf/Ironwolf Pro) and competing brand offerings (HGST and WD) and this drive is attractive in a number of ways: 1) It has the largest cache memory - 256 MB. while many competitors only offer 128MBโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Expensive
