Lousy product, very low quality.

Mileage 7000 thousand hours, and already 8 broken sectors, for comparison, the ancient Hitachi 200GB with an ide interface has 20,000 thousand hours of operation and a perfect smart. A separate issue is the periodic scratching of heads, which could not be eliminated by ating the firmware. I do not recommend to buy. I advise you to set CrystalDiskInfo to autoload in the "launch in the notification area" mode to constantly monitor the status of the disk.

Pros
  • Slim and lightweight.
Cons
  • Poor reliability, scratching heads.

During the weekly check - SMART status is Good, SMART parameters are normal. And two days later it disappears from the list of connected HDDs, and turns into a brick, which is not detected either in the BIOS or in an external USB-box. The only thing that has died in a computer in the last 10 years is three Seagate disks, one after the other. This is my last Seagate, their quality has dropped too much.

Pros
  • Worked for 5 years. Quiet, not very warm, quite smart. During the work there are no complaints. Price (2.600 for 2022).
Cons
  • Dies suddenly and completely, leaving no chance to save the information.

No complaints, I recommend to buy.

I decided that after so many years it would be time to change the iron and here I am leaving a review about the veteran. I bought it at the start of sales (I don’t remember exactly when), I worked constantly, every day, there was only a year break (the army, her mother). It is perfect for both gamers and hard workers, I do not advise 3D designers and streamers, it does not pull such volumes of work.

Pros
  • Quiet, thin, price / quality, 5 seconds download win7 64 at the beginning of use 20 at the end, took more than 5 years ago (now autumn 2022) and he is still alive and a little sick.
Cons
  • They are not, but I will describe the problems after over 5 years of use. It falls asleep when idle and wakes up with a lag for 3 seconds, making a plaintive buzzing-creaking sound, with constant work with it there are no such problems, only at startup. It stops being read at first once a month, after six months once a week, now every day I physically reconnect it with my hands - it helps. It's amazing how it's still alive and running at about half its initial speed.

The product is very low quality, not what you need at all.

Winchester worked for a year and a month and a half, after which he spontaneously died right during work. Firefox hung, on scrolling and attempts to close the browser - no reaction, it was also not possible to turn off or restart the computer. After a hard restart with the button on the system unit, the computer refused to boot. The disk is not visible in the BIOS, Acronis and similar utilities are also not detected. The most annoying thing is that one of the sections contained valuable…

Pros
  • Good speed, quiet enough.
Cons
  • Reliability tends to zero.

I took 06/14/2022 used for 2k. The controller board needs to be improved - most modern disks have contact pads to the HDA without a protective coating (planned obsolescence), and as a result, after five years of operation, they are so oxidized that they cannot transmit a normal signal. In this model, the Seagate also "annealed" the controller with cooling, sticking a 5 by 5 mm thermal pad on a 12x12mm chip and leaving the second chip without any cooling at all. Solution: - unscrew the…

Pros
  • Line speed about 200 Silence Price Normal operation after controller modification
Cons
  • The design of the controller board. Correction in comments

Its impossible to use it, dont waste your money.

The last disk I bought from Seagate was very disappointing and for a long time shook the reputation of the company in my eyes (look for it in my reviews, if you are interested), so when the desire to ate the park of hard drives in my home computer matured, I bought two terabytes of the "reliable" RE4 series out of grief from WD. Soon I thought and decided to take the third, but cheaper - Caviar Blue. On the other hand, I didn’t want to put all the data eggs in the basket of one manufacturer so…

Pros
  • A single pancake model, as a result, is colder and quieter than my WD RE4 terabytes, the speed is subjectively the same.
Cons
  • My disk is fresh, made in Taiwan, but judging by the number, the firmware is old - CC43, and it is not ated, which is annoying. The warranty is only six months, and it's sad. When idle, it falls asleep, and when it wakes up, the system "freezes" for a couple of seconds, which is annoying. Two years later, broken sectors went, after three - he died along with my films.

The purchase is a failure, very dissatisfied.

These glitches are not only mine, my brother had the same symptoms after 2 years, a friend a year later, on the same screw. If the Seagate goes on like this, it will repeat the fate of the Fujitsu! Who does not know foodfitsu used solder in the production, which oxidized over time. Within a couple of years, all the propellers of the Fujitsu MPG series failed. The firm closed before it exchanged everything under warranty. All that's left is the division that produces screws for laptops. In any…

Pros
  • speed, silence.
Cons
  • a month after the purchase, the head began to knock periodically, disappears from Windows, it is seen in the BIOS, but in Windows it does not exist or one of the three logical disks disappears. Sometimes Windows disappears, you have to reinstall. All tests, including the branded one, pass successfully.

Good product for me, I was satisfied with the price.

If you have a budget build in an inexpensive and noisy case like the Zalman Z9 Plus, don't care about the noise, and don't have the money for an SSD for the foreseeable future, the Seagate ST1000DM003 is a great choice. The disk is very fast, for a year of use it did not cause any complaints about reliability. If you want storage for a hi-end silent system, WD would be the way to go.

Pros
  • The disk is very fast. When switching from WD Blue, Windows boot speed increased, response time decreased. Considering that all hard drives are now made by either Seagate or WD, Seagate is the best choice when speed is at a premium.
Cons
  • Terrible, just terrible noise. It's like being scratched on the brain with nails. Foolishly tried to make a quiet system in a Fractal Design Define R4 case from SSD + HDD and installed a Seagate ST1000DM003 HDD from my old computer. Every session of using the PC sounded like it was about to take off into space. The video card XFX R9 290X Double Dissipation at 100% rpm is modestly lost against the background of this noise.

There are pluses and minuses, think before you buy.

After 5 years of not very active operation (about 10,000 hours), troubles rained down. It began to pour in from the end, where the hidden logical drive was organized by Windows. Thanks to this, it was possible to clone the main disk to a new screw and do without reinstalling the system. Victoria ran it in remap mode, but after a reboot, new ones appeared in a new place. A new screw bought a two-disk with a lower density of information per disk.

Pros
  • Regular screw. While working, it worked fine. Pomerat began slowly enough, thanks to which the data was saved.
Cons
  • Worked for almost 5 years and fell apart.

The best thing I've ever used, I recommend it to everyone!

1. I saw some incredible amount of negative feedback that everyone has it crumbling, crumbling, etc. I don’t know, maybe I’m so lucky, but I think that those whose disk fails tend to leave reviews here, which cannot be said about the main part of the buyers - who are all right. Of course, marriage always takes place and I won’t argue that the most reliable disk can fly in a couple of weeks (I lost western digital so much), but that’s what a guarantee is for, to be able to replace it. The main…

Pros
  • Reliable (for 4 years, the number of inclusions 1498 times, the total time of operation 19766 hours, reassigned sectors 0)
Cons
  • I will only complain about the price, but this complaint applies to all hardware, which is becoming more and more expensive every year, and not only in.
