Installed in Tivo Bolt 500GB

I just installed one of these in my Tivo Bolt VOX DVR for cable. Using MSFT, migrating the data, expanding the volume and keeping all the contents of the disk (previously recorded shows on the old disk). Works great so far. Perfect fit for Tivo Bolt cases.

Large Hard Drive Storage - SMR

These are SMR hard drives. They write a stack, a dead end, they write a stack, a dead end, etc. Read quickly. So if you think you can be highly productive while writing, you are not. The RAID controller doesn't matter, it doesn't happen! Nonetheless. They are best suited to a mostly read-only array. I use them with an AI DVR. Rarely writes and has a large cache on the raid controller. Works great for that. May also be appropriate for a media server that is primarily read-only.

Fits cost-effective RAID

I installed some of these as RAID 1 on a Dell Poweredge R610. They were recognized by the raid controller and were able to use it to create a RAID 1 set. The build time takes a little time (> 2 days) but is significantly cheaper compared to a RAID build using SSDs of similar capacity. If you don't use a DB, many use cases don't require performance. Dell R710 Storage Drives for H700 Raid Array

2.5" 4TB drives from my old Dell file storage server at home. Works well and uses its time as my hot spare in the disk array.
