SAS is not the same as SATA

Bought SAS by mistake. Make sure you select SATA! I bought it thinking it would be compatible with a regular SATA hard drive enclosure. No, my fault. This is a special type of drive that only works with server-class disk controllers that cost hundreds of dollars. Make sure you select SATA. Ugh, they should have SATA by default, not SAS.

ATTENTION! Used drives are sold as new

In the first picture you can see a bubble wrap with a sticker that says "Seagate Enterprise Capaci.l Bare Drive ST4000NM0023 New". The second picture clearly shows that it is a Seagate ST4000NM0023. The first clue should be the Uline Static Shield Pack it was sealed in in the third image. I'm pretty sure Seagate doesn't buy packages from Uline. The worst culprit is the SMART Monitoring Tools report showing the drive lasted over 30,000 hours! It's over 3 years old! This is clearly a scam.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Used rims are sold as NEW

I bought some of these rims a few years ago thought I would have bought new ones. One died last week and I went to RMA. It was out of warranty. The discs turned out to be over 5 years old (at the time of the RMA). Just goes to show that you should always check the serial numbers when purchasing Revain rims. Seller: Global Silicon Electronics, Inc. $167.88 Condition: New

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time

Used hard drive. Heavily used.

Ryze Systems sent me a drive that SMART says has lasted over a million hours. That's almost the same number of discs I take out and throw away. Worse, this drive has over a billion read errors, and the drives I remove haven't had more than 2000. If I had bothered to read the reviews, I wouldn't have bought it at all.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

Disc NOS but NEW. Works like clockwork and ran for less than an hour

Just wanted to make sure you all know that this drive is really new, just out of production . They stopped producing these drives to make room for more capacity and new technologies. However, a few years ago I had a drive failure in a RAID 5 that was working continuously and of course I had to replace the drive. I found this one and it matched the bill perfectly and far less than the 300+ I paid when I originally bought it. If I were to upgrade now, I'd end up with a bunch of 8TB+ drives, but I
