Failed twice good for external SSDs

maybe I was unlucky, but I failed two of them and gave me corrupted files. Although I have Western Digital many years ago, it still works and has never given me any problems. Just wanted a second one for extra files and storage. Unfortunately this brand isn't for me and both make the weird sound I've read about. Not worth saying no, but the readable features and write speed plus glitches are enough to make me refuse to buy!

Used for NVR CCTV and lasted a month

To be honest I don't use this product as usual or maybe as intended so I'm sticking with 2 runs but. The first thing I did was take this drive out of the case. For those curious, it's 2.5 inches. I installed the drive in Ubiquiti Cloud Key Gen 2 as 5TB is the maximum size it can hold. This drive worked well for the first few weeks and then the clicks started. Now it's dead. Then try WD but expensive 1 month NVR storage.

  • This is amazing

Compact but very slow USB 3 transfer

This is my second Seagate 5TB hard drive. It should be noted that data transfer via USB 3 is very, very slow. It took over 26 hours to transfer 2.1TB of video! Please note that this device comes with a 3 year warranty. My first one died 3 weeks after the warranty expired! Of course, that leaves no way out, but I still needed a 5TB drive and this was an alternative. Expect to pay around $30 a year for the privilege of having this storage, BUT WHEN YOU FIRST SHOW A PROBLEM, BE READY TO SAVE YOUR…

A FULL YEAR OF FILES LOST AFTER ONE MONTH FROM PURCHASE DATE

I worked for a year to get my data and a month later it was all gone. This external drive worked for less than a month. Bought in December 2020 and by the 3rd week of January all but a few of my files were gone. Blood, sweat and tears for all the work and time I put in. WILL NEVER BUY A SEAGATE AGAIN. I have another Seagate that is older but I'm going to back it up with something else. I only buy My Book Discs, never had a problem with them. I bought this drive because it was small and easy to…

Software cannot back up external drive

I bought this drive as a backup drive for another Seagate 5TB drive. The "One Touch" version cost about $25 more than my first drive, but it comes with the software needed to create a backup, so the extra $25 seemed reasonable. When I tried to create a backup plan using the Toolkit software, only the C: drive is backed up. Even in the advanced settings (see figure 2) it doesn't recognize that I have connected another drive (F:). I can still drag and drop files from one drive to another, but…

Easy to use! Works for MAC OS Mojave (10.14.6)

For Macs and using Seagate as an external backup drive with Time Machine. (1) Be sure to open the "Mac" installer link after connecting the driver. (2) The web link takes you to the product registration website (do it) and also offers you many other trial products - ignore them and then close the webpage. In the meantime you should receive an email that you have successfully registered your new Seagate product! (3) Try to start Time Machine with the newly selected driver. It may ask you to…

Good read speed, but slightly bad write speed.

This review is for the One Touch 5TB External Hard Drive. I originally bought this thinking it was an upgraded version of a Backup Plus drive that I thought was unavailable. Given the 7200rpm I also found it a nice upgrade to look for speed. Unfortunately, this drive does not work for my or anyone else's needs. Read speeds were better than the Backup Plus as I averaged around 250-270Mbps with the One Touch which was nice to see but write speeds averaged around 50-60Mbps. I couldn't get him to…
