Chager works but has some quirks.

Bought this along with a battery for a Verizon backup device. It arrived before the battery and on time. The only downside is the crocodile clips. When trying to open the terminals for battery installation, the insulation came loose and loosened. It took a while to put them on because it's difficult to push them in and when you try to attach the connectors to the battery, the insulation rolls out of the way. But once you put them on, the battery won't charge. It should also be made with aโ€ฆ

Works great, but note the charging cycle!

Wart style two stage wall charger works as advertised: charges at 0.5 amps until it reaches 14.6 volts then turns red off and turns green then stays at 13.7B. If the battery voltage drops Below that the charge will resume etc. So it can be used to keep the battery at a constant/intermittent low current load. What some buyers fail to realize is that a low price usually indicates poor quality control, so some bounce rate is expected. Therefore, it would be advisable for each user to test itsโ€ฆ

Buyer warning! 12 volt DC power supply, no charger!

Not impressed. I don't like the fact that this seller is selling these wall warts as chargers. They should be advertised as a 12V DC power supply as that is all they are. It's just fancy babble to call it a "single stage" charger. loophole. What I don't like about this product is that it only has a 12 volt output. For those of you who don't know how batteries and DC work, I'll keep it simple. You need a higher voltage to power the battery than the battery can handle. When I first got this wallโ€ฆ

Great SLA charger for the money.

Great charger. When connected to SLA, bulk charging starts at about 1.1A up to about 14.7V (on Fluke DVM). Once the battery voltage approaches 14.6, the current starts to drop rapidly, and when it reaches 14.7V, the red light turns green and it goes into constant voltage standby mode. I have two and one is set at 13.7v and the other is set at 13.75v (measured on the same DMV for several minutes). The current needed to sustain this particular SLA I was playing with was around 40mA, again on both

Pros
  • Great design

  • Out of fashion

Unfortunately I didn't do my homework before purchasing. There were no instructions in the box for how long to charge my 12 volt battery. I called my battery manufacturer and asked for advice. I have been told that if I charge this charger for too long I could destroy my battery. "This charger is old technology," they told me. My battery is 7.2Ah. It takes 14.4 hours to properly charge a fully discharged battery with this charger (I've learned it's a 1/2 amp charger). I was told I could chargeโ€ฆ

Will the electrics and battery work

I bought this to charge the battery I have for my FIOS setup. This extends the life of my FIOS battery. In March 2018 I bought an ExpertPower 12V battery pack to replace my old one which had died. I also bought this charger. In April 2019, a FIOS box in the garage was making an annoying chirp, which by the way is driving one of my dogs crazy. So I pulled out the battery and pushed the button to silence the chirping. I connected the battery to the charger and let it charge for 24 hours. That was

Use at your own risk, no charger will damage the battery.

When I bought this item I was afraid it might be too good to be true. Unfortunately, tests have confirmed this fear. This unit should not be sold as a battery charger as it is not intended for use as a battery charger - it is a simple non-adjustable alligator clip wall power supply. I received a charger identical to the one shown in the photo. It is designated Model 41A0163 with a specified output of 6V/12V and 500mA (switch selectable voltage). Since there is no other information, I tested itโ€ฆ
