🖤 Selle SMP Extra Black Saddle Review

I have four road bikes, all with this saddle. Deducted a point for not having leather, but it's not worth the price increase. Probably my 10th purchase.

I mounted this saddle on my road bike. It seems to fit me a little better than the Selle TRK I had before. A little narrower. In general I would say that it is not very comfortable. But choosing a saddle is a very personal matter. All different.

My most intimate areas go numb almost every time I ride a mountain bike. I cover up to 5000 feet in a week. I bought/ordered a few seats and this was by far the most comfortable and I didn't have ZERO numbness! Very happy. Highly recommended

I ordered the Selle TRP and use it on my gravel bike and I love this saddle. This saddle just felt like a step down in terms of comfort and quality. The cover doesn't feel as comfortable and the cushion isn't as form fitting as on my other Selle saddle. It's a good saddle though and it was better than the factory seat on my new bike which cost 6500 so the factory seat wasn't cheap. About 800 miles in the last 2 months with this saddle.

If you are struggling to find a comfortable saddle, stop looking and buy this one. I struggled with comfort and fit until I put the Selle SMP Extra saddle on my road bike. The curved design keeps me in the correct position on the saddle and after some tweaking with precise positioning I now have a saddle that I can ride long distances in. I just rode 70 miles and had no arm numbness, back or shoulder pain. It was really wonderful to feel so comfortable on such a long journey.

I had a problem with prostatitis so the doctor told me to change something or stop cycling. The Selle SMP Extra is a quality, comfortable saddle that suits my needs and provides protection for my body parts. It needed a little tweaking. My 30 mile rides are great and have greatly reduced the problem. I bought a "Well" and a "TRK" saddle and found the "Extra" to be the best of the three was for my needs. The trough is too thin in the back for mountain biking, my pants sag when trying to put them back on if they're far from the back, while the extra back is more rounded and makes it easier to get back into the seat. The TRK is just too wide and soft but worked great on my beach cruiser. All seats offer prostate relief, especially if you're on long trips like me. A droopy nose is also great…

If not professionally adjusted then this is kind of a hack, lots of trial and error with different saddles to fit. However, it is possible. And this place is a great place to start. I installed this saddle on my 2017 Cannondale CAAD 12, which by the way may very well have one of the most uncomfortable stock saddles.
