Taking them on a 15 mile ride on both the bike path and the main road with the bike path, they worked fantastic when ambient noise was low in a colloquial tone. Don't try to have a conversation at high speeds or in noisy environments, but it's still great for sharing directions or warnings. My family love to use these headsets for Sena Pi Intercom. My husband and I and my sisters can now easily communicate while cycling. The trick is to place them correctly over the helmet straps so that the headset's soft windshield faces your face and not the other way around. I think my only complaint about these devices would be the missing two lines in the quick setup guide for the steps required for users without a smartphone who just want to use it as an intercom.
