The screws required a special tool due to the protrusion in the center of the screw hole. I had to use my screws. The paint has also peeled off at the corners. Excess paint was still on the piece, suggesting it had recently been rubbed off. I was about to return it until I saw other reviews with the same issue. This worked for what I needed but should be better

I needed four 1" U-bolts. They were perfect for my project. However, all four brackets came without hardware (T-27 Torx Fasteners). You can click on A box I opened saw that there is no paint at the bend. As another reviewer pointed out, the reason for this is most likely because the metal plate was painted when the sheet metal was straight and then formed into a U shape bracket is hidden, which is what it would be for my project, no problem.

Excellent sturdy stainless steel U-bracket which I used to hold my wood stove's copper colored heat shield about an inch from the wall.
