Great for DIY!

These SharkBite fittings work best with PEX tubing. If the pipe is square and clean (use a proper cutter!), the fittings can be installed by hand, allowing for easy do-it-yourself assembly. When I bought my house 8 years ago I did a complete makeover with PEX in a renovation. If I had known how easy it was, I would have taken the job myself instead of hiring a plumber. Come to think of it, maybe not, but simple jobs are a breeze with these hardware!

Believe the advertisement Pipes, fittings and accessories

I was skeptical, although I have often heard that they are revolutionary for sanitary technology. Well I'm a convert. These things are pretty amazing. I have used them to install a whole house water filter that I have installed in the past with compression adapters. I screwed them into both ends of the filter with teflon tape, inserted the hoses into both ends and, holding my breath, turned on the water. No leaks. even a little drop. Note: They're also about $4 cheaper at Revain than Home…

Unusually Disappointed with Shark Bite

To this day I have never been disappointed with a Shark Bite brand. I don't mind paying extra for quality...but this one fell short. I pulled the tub/shower valve assembly as I couldn't identify the dripper. Used this fitting to attach a water hose to Pex for testing. It was a little harder than usual... I knew it was different, but it was the only one I had. So I put it on, the problem was the distance as you can see. (blue Pex) Pex needs to be replaced. It's ok since I got it off the wall…

Easy Peasy Plumbing Ties

I'm not a plumber and while PEX slings really like these Shark Bite fittings I've seen them used with copper slings for years. The leaks/faults I've seen on them are usually related to the condition of the pipe end during installation. Some errors were caused by misalignment of the tube/fitting assembly, or the tube was installed at an angle leaving a gap on one side of the o-ring. As long as the cut is clean and all surfaces are smooth, the bite will last. (Sharp edges and burrs can scratch…

Easy to use and reliable

I have used Sharkbites for plumbing jobs in many homes I have lived in over the years (retired military, relocated 6+ times as a homeowner). If you're making repairs and have limited access without tearing up the drywall or subfloor, these (and any shark fittings) are a lifesaver. I used them to install a new 1/2 FIP shower panel installation (Vigo Kingsley system). They did a great job and plan on using the other two to install the tub as they use the same inlet fitting. My usual use and first

This faucet really saved the day

I had to replace the tub valve with a tiny 7" round hole. This faucet had 4 pipes: hot and cold PEX, PEX to the shower and a rigid copper pipe to the bath fill. All fittings had iron pipe threads in the valve. The PEX fittings slide and twist (with some difficulty) so I could unscrew them and barely manage to get the mini pipe cutter onto the copper to cut it. That's where this SharkBite fitting comes in. With a little attention to the end of the copper to make sure it wasn't sharp, this…

Sharkbites makes installation easy

When I first saw a shark bite at my local hardware store I thought it would be *so* useful. if it works! I placed it next to a pump vibrating in a system of heated water and fluctuating pressure in a complex application. but also in a place where, if he had blown, he would not have flooded the house. At the time, I thought that simple installation was enough. but now, two pumps and six years later, I've been throwing sharks at plumbing problems everywhere because of the ease of disconnection…
