Don't waste your money

When I first tried to sharpen a mower blade I decided to buy these to make it easier. waste of money. The plastic guide is simply pushed down and the top screw is loosened, allowing the stone to rotate. The stone also easily bounces off the blade. It worked for sanding, but the same goes for a simple metal file, which gives a 10x better and lighter edge. This type of stone in the drill is terribly inaccurate and creates an uneven cutting edge. Just buy a file for metal!

Pros
  • Whetstones
Cons
  • High Price

Garbage. save your money Use an angle grinder.

In theory these sharpeners should work perfectly. The plastic part holds the whetstone at the perfect angle etc. In practice this is nonsense. They are difficult to hold at such a perfect angle, even when holding the mowing blade in a vise, and they sharpen and dull the blade than it originally was. Buy a $10 angle grinder at your favorite hardware store and an 80 grit grinding wheel or cut-off wheel and use that. Perfect results. Pass these things.

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other pickaxes

Very happy with these sharpeners

Very happy with this purchase. I will say that if you have a really dull blade, expect to spend some time sharpening it when you are going to use it. I started sharpening my blades with it and after 1 or 2 minutes on one side of the blade I definitely felt the difference. When I got to the other blade I found that there were so many serrations and the blade was quite fried. I ended up just buying new blades because mine were in such a mess. The new blades I bought even had a film of paint on…
