Soak them in water for 10 minutes before use.

4 stars because nothing made by humans is perfect. This is my first set of wet stones after deciding other sharpening tools will not cut it. Take it? Even after abusing this kit for the first time, I got pretty good results. When I went back to read the product description, I noticed that it said to soak the stones in water for 10 minutes before use. Just wetting the stone during use is not enough. Soak them first, then add water and take your time. Let the stone do its thing.

Professional sharpening stones

A simple 2-stage hand sharpener is only approx. 600 grit on the finest setting and only works with knives. This professional sharpening stone set includes 400/1000 and 3000/8000 grit waterstones. For sharpening kitchen knives, scissors or chisels, I like to use a sharper 400/1000 grit stone. Remember to soak the stone for 10 minutes before using sharpening stones. Use the leather strap to polish your knives and remove burrs. However, there is no instruction manual showing how to use the…

Find manuals for this product

Exactly what I expected. I paid $125 for a professional sharpening of 12 kitchen and loin knives. It wasn't worth it. Luckily, as I went after them, he showed me his little workshop and how he actually sharpened every knife with his wet stones. If you're seriously considering a purchase, keep scrolling through the product information and you'll find instructions on how to properly sharpen your knives. Don't forget to soak each stone in water for 10 minutes, constantly washing the water away…

Make sure you know how to use them properly

Overall this is a great sharpening set. One of the whetstones is made of corundum and the other is made of silicon carbide, both marked with the appropriate grit. The stones are large enough to fit each blade in the knife block. The only very minor gripe I have is that the bamboo based rubber grip that the stones are supposed to sit on during use doesn't have a good quality rubber foot so it doesn't stay in place effectively. Silicone insulators, which hold the blocks in place in the packaging,

Results VARY - Difficult

.Ok this is a good set - pricey but good for bars. Having just bought an expensive set of kitchen knives, I wanted to sharpen them using the universally accepted "best" method: stones. I came here after seeing many knife sharpening tool reviews on You Tube - almost all regular sharpeners were worse - so I assumed Japanese cooks used sharpening stones. You would be good enough for me. So what's the problem? No instructions - so come back to you for more videos of talented people sharpening rocks

My husband kept such a set for decades. We've never had a dull knife in our house. But whenever my son wanted to borrow it, my husband would get pretty nervous until he was alive and well with him again. With this purchase, my son can hone his knife sharpening skills to his heart's content without worrying about losing his dad's whetstone. do. Watch some instructional videos and practice with cheap knives before moving on to expensive blades.

Beautiful stones! Great tools!

I did a bit of shopping before deciding on this set. I am satisfied with the quantity delivered. However, I wish there was something included to explain some of the points. For example, one of the questions and answers states that there is a guide to corners. I guess what it is and wish there was something that explains how to use it. Actually, it would be nice if something explained how best to use the whole system for each type of knife, from pocket knives to kitchen knives. It would also be…

Great starter set for power and hand tools

So I bought another stone which was about half the price of this set and was a 1000/6000 grit but I found this set much easier to use . Especially if you are new to sharpening stones, I recommend spending a little more money on a mixed grit set. I practice on old kitchen knives that no longer have sheaths and are dull. This kit comes with a guide which is helpful with most knives but you still need to loosen the tip as it is curved. The reason I prefer this set over a single 1000/6000 stone is…
